I’ve been searching high and low for an oil rubbed bronze chandelier that I liked as much as the one that I bought for my last house (in brushed steel). And voila! SmartBargains.com has EXACTLY the same chandelier that I bought for my dining room in my last house…except in oil rubbed bronze to match all of my new fixtures. And it’s a lot cheaper! Today only, Smart Bargains is offering 25% off your entire order. (Let’s all let the sweetness of that eat at our teeth for a moment.) So, the Kenroy Home Accolade Bronze 6 Light Chandelier is far less than the $232 retail price. It’s just $90! Add another $12 for shipping and it is still ~$50 less than I paid for the same chandelier in brushed steel several months ago. Score! The design is quite contemporary. The center of the fixture is sleekly shaped. The shades are BIG. I loved how unique they looked. But in this case, the finish is traditional, and I love that this chandelier could work equally well in a traditional, transitional or contemporary setting…because I do change my mind a lot.
The extra 25% off at SmartBargains will appear automatically during checkout, so the prices that you initially see are much more than you’ll actually pay.
Cheers!

HellOOOooOOOoo, Sears! The Sears Columbus Day Sale is in full swing with savings of up to 70% off. I had to look twice when I saw that they are offering 50% off mattresses plus an additional 10% off that. En ingles, this means that you have a choice of 3 different twin mattresses for $170 or less. There’s a choice of 6 Full-sized mattresses for under $250. If you need a Queen mattress, you can choose from 7 different styles under $260. And King mattress are always a hop up in price, but a selection of 6 King-sized mattresses for $400 or less is mighty impressive to me. Keep in mind that these prices are for mattresses only and do not include the price of box springs. The good news is that box springs also fall under this sale and for ~$90 you can grab a twin box spring or ~$140 for a queen.
Cheers!

I am pretty excited about Christmas this year. I have a new house to deck out and my parents will be visiting from out of state. So…obnoxious though it may be, I plan to start decorating…or at least planning my decor…immediately. Overstock.com is a great place to watch for Christmas decorations. I’ve bought several packs of Handcrafted Recycled Glass Icicle Ornaments both for myself and as gifts. These gorgeous glass icicles come in 20-packs with varied sizes. Each icicle is different and the different sizes in each pack really add to the realism. These are fantastic when placed near Christmas lights or other light sources. The price? They are on sale at Overstock for $25.99 (45% off $47.50). They are loved by shoppers other than myself and have a 4.7 star rating after 200 reviews.
While you are at Overstock, check out their deal of the day, celebrating day 6 of their 10-year anniversary celebration. Today’s deal is the Dyson DC14 Animal Upright Vacuum (Refurbished) for $259.99. This retails at $399 when new, and has a killer rating of 4.8 stars after 236 reviews.
Cheers!

Smart Bargains is celebrating 10 years of smartness today and offering 25% off everything. EVERYTHING. It’s weird how my mind instantly clicked into stockpile-high-thread-count-sheets-in-case-of-future-sheet-shortage mode. But really, I am alone on this?
Bees are vanishing, the Earth is heating or cooling depending on who you ask, and you just never know when the price of Egyptian cotton will skyrocket due to side effects of that or an H1N1 outbreak at the sheet factory. A lot of natural phenomena should not come between me and sheets that feel like butter. While you guys are worrying about curing cancer and feeding the homeless, I have REAL things like this to worry about. And with that, I give you my top 3 picks on sheets today at 400tc, 800tc and sweet sweet 1200tc. TC = thread count per square inch. Higher = happier.
Weighing in at $40 and at 400tc, the 400TC Single-Ply Striped Egyptian Cotton Sheet Set is 64% off the $110 retail. With 4.5 stars after 17 reviews, it’s a great, low-cost bet for a soft night’s sleep. It’s available in Queen size in ivory, taupe or gold.
Weighing in at $72 and at 800tc, the 800TC Stripe Egyptian Single Ply Sheet Set (Full, Queen, King, Cali King; 8 Colors) is 64% off the $200 retail. It scores 5 stars after 5 reviews. It’s available in Full, Queen, King and Cali King in a nice assortment of colors, 8 in total.
And the 1200tc prize goes to the 1200TC Egyptian Cotton Single Ply Sheet Set at $104. That’s 68% off the 320 retail price. NICE! It’s available in Queen in ivory, blue, taupe, chocolate, or navy. A rating of 4.5 stars after 29 reviews says it all, and at this price, is almost patriotic…you know, helping us to stockpile for the shortage, and all. *cough*
Happy 10th anniversary, Smart Bargains!
Cheers!

My mother-in-law visited over the weekend and we had at blast at World Market. We originally just wanted something for my living room wall. BUT…the sales sucked us right in, less than 10 steps into the store. There it was, right in front of me: an area rug with my exact colors…HALF OFF. *gasp* I am strong, but I am not THAT strong. In fact, World Market is offering 50% off online plus free shipping on all kinds of rugs, wall art, and window panels. Wish I had known about the free shipping while I was trying to miracle my 6′x9′ rug into my backseat. I probably had 2 feet of it hanging out one of my back windows, and that is not the kind of stress that anyone needs.
Beyond all of my rug-related rambling, you should also know how much great wall art I found/bought while I was there. Look at the prices. You will approve. I managed to make it home without any window treatments, for better or worse, so I just might have to rectify that today.
Cheers!

Sick of looking at the plastic table and apple crate seating in your dinette area? Me too. World Market is running a sale on dining tables, chairs and benches at up to 50% off. Weeee! While much of World Market’s decor screams “not-from-around-here” in terms of ethic pizazz, most of the dining furniture is styled with clean lines and would fit great in a real home and not just in a hookah bar.
Case in point? The Loft 5-Piece Dining Set at World Market. It retails at $729.95 and is on sale for a fantastic $399. Remember, that’s for the full 5-piece set. It’s compact at 40″ x 40″ – great for an apartment or “cozy” dinette space. Looking for another 20 inches? The table is extendable to 40″ x 60″ to seat 6 people.
Cheers!

Today, after a 6-day house moving marathon, I am ready to hang myself finally enjoying the heck out of the new house. (I am VERY SORRY for not updating the daily commentary during the madness. Thanks for your forgiveness…and luxurious housewarming gifts. *hint, hint*)
Jack and I used to share a home office, but now we each have our own because Jack thinks I talk too much I need one room that oozes girly fashionista deal huntress. I also want it to be a combination guest room, and am looking for great comforter set to glam up the room. As part of the Macy’s Online “Weekend” Sale, Macy’s is running 20% off clothing and 15% off jewelry and home items, including bedding. With promo code WEEKEND, we’ll also enjoy free shipping on orders of $125 or more. The sale runs today through 9/20 and includes plenty of great comforters like the Pem American “Zen Blossom” 8-Piece Comforter Set in queen or king. The queen retails at $200 and the king at $250, but they are both on sale for an impressive $99.99 through Sunday. It’s a great looking set that is rated 4.3 stars after 19 reviews.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to wander aimlessly back into my sea of boxes and tissue paper. If you don’t hear from me by this time tomorrow, call 9-1-1.
Cheers!

Happy 10th birthday to SmartBargains! And happy coupon fest to me. You must check out the SmartBargains 10 hour sale in celebration of their big 1-0. All I can say is “bathe-mama-in-Egyptian-cotton-and-call-me-ecstatic” because they are offering a full 40% off Egyptian cotton sheets and duvets. Cotton nocturnal bliss can be yours for as low as $39.99. Your mileage may vary, but I’d bypass the duvets and go straight for the sheets. Slightly wrinkly sheets that feel like heaven: approved. Slightly wrinkly and highly-visible duvet cover: fail. But, I haven’t touched an iron since the Cold War, so don’t listen to me. And, P.S., if/when the Cold War heats/cools again, do not expect me to go crawling back to my iron…where ever it may be. I just keep it around in case my Mom visits. (See you in December! Love you!)
There are many more great coupons to take advantage of through 2am tonight (Thurs morning).
To Egypt!

You look busy. If you 5 minutes to spare today, the one sale that you must check is the Macy’s Home Clearance Sale with 50% off a whole lot of great items. A deal that I love for a new dorm dweller, or anyone new to an apartment is the Gibson “Sensations” 52-Piece Dinnerware Set. For just $39.99 (regularly $100), this set has everything needed for a proper table setting for 4 diners – dishes, glasses, utensils and evenplacemats. To be exact, it includes 4 of each of the following: 10.125″ dinner plates, 5.5″ bowls, 12-oz. mugs, salad forks, dinner forks, knives, spoons and teaspoons, tumblers, double old-fashioned and juice glasses. From where I stand, this would be an awesome gift to give to someone who has been roughing it and eating their ramen noodles from a permanently-stained tupperware bowl. Man, I miss those days.
This is just one of hundreds of great deals at Macy’s today, so dive in.
Cheers!

Have you ever wondered why it is that missionaries, of all people, have a sexual position named after them? Me either. And I also do not think about that every time I see mission-style furniture. And I certainly don’t giggle. (Dear publicist, do you like how I am following your advice and down-playing my sexual thought patterns?) If missionary is your style, Overstock is on top, y ou know, with their deals and stuff. Both their 15% off Select Bedroom Furniture and 15% Off Select Dining Room Furniture sales include some beautiful mission-style pieces at sound prices.
Case in point, the Cherry Mission-style Slatted King Bed is on sale for just $765. One reviewer indicates that the back of the headboard isn’t stained, but for this price, it’s a nice find for those who always plant a headboard against the wall anyway.
Also worth noting at Overstock through 8/30 is an Extra 10% Off Murano Glass Jewelry and 20% Off Stuhrling Watches.
Cheers!
