Happy Father’s Day - The Panic Gift List
Happy Father’s Day! If you’re reading this thinking, “Oh, s***! I forgot to get Dad/Hubby a gift”…allow me to welcome you to a large club.
Here are some ideas that are purely electronic that can arrive in Dad’s inbox today. Yay internet!
1. I’ve said it before: Send Dad to the movies with Fandango Bucks. You go to Fandango.com and choose the amount of movie goodness that the old man has earned this year (increments of $10, $15, $20, $25, $50 or $100). And then Dad receives his gift code via email and can go to Fandango to order tickets to his local theater. He gets to choose the movie, the theater and the showtime that works for him. Before you order, it would be wise to search for Fandango-partnered theaters in Dad’s city to make sure that he can redeem your gracious gift. You can search for his city where it says “Find Theaters + Movie Times” to the right of the Fandango logo on their site. Make sure that you click “Send Via EMAIL” when you order unless you want Dad to wait around for days wondering what he did to make you hate him…even if he knows what he did.
2. Staying with the movie theme, hook Dad up with a constant stream of DVD rentals sent to his mailbox with a gift membership to Netflix. It doesn’t get much easier than choosing movies online, receiving the DVD’s via mail and mailing them back when you’re finished. Netflix wins big points with us after first-hand experience with their huge movie selection and convenience of ordering and returning movies.
3. A subscription to Angie’s List will allow Dad to research the most trusted home improvement professionals, doctors, and a whole host of other professionals. It’s a subscription to a website, a website that will allow Dad to offload as much of his honey-do list as he pleases. Cost of membership depends on Dad’s city of residence, but expect to pay in the neighborhood of $40-$80 for an annual subscription. Angie’s List completely rocks. I’ve used it extensively for hiring handymen, tile layers, carpet cleaners, and a few other things. Awesome site! For $20 off an annual membership (expires today), use promo code: COLOR
4. A gift subscription to the Restaurant of the Month Club from Restaurant.com is a great way to allow Dad to enjoy 1 free $25 meal each month at a local restaurant. You can buy a 3, 6 or 12-month membership for Mom for $30, $60 or $120, respectively…and use promo code DAD to save 60% off that! My husband and I use Restaurant.com like crazy to save money and experience new restaurants and highly recommend it.
Hooray Dads!
